07-21: Limerence

Do you ever have those days when life feels so glum and despondent, that so many other versions of your life could have happened to you and you figure you’d be happier in that story. Except that isn’t your story, this is your story. And you aren’t happy with it. It’s boring, rhythmic, out of your control.

But then the energy in you stirs, and a single moment changes it all. A window of opportunity! Opens up like a portal, and suddenly memories of your childhood are rushing in front of your eyes as you try to grip them all, piece them together and understand what type of cryptic call to action these emotions are. You try to hold on to the emotion flooding you, that emotion called hope that you love the sensation of so much. Hope for your world being different that what it was going to be.

It reminds you that every moment is a pitchforked decision tree. Not a straight path you are walking on. Depending on your faith or culture, you might believe there is a path you are destined to walk on, turns and decisions you inevitably will make. But every second requires a split second decision. What are your impulses, my child? And what do they tell you to do every second? How much power do you have over your own life, your own happiness?

When will you realize you can wake up and change everything?

Limerence: a type of romantic infatuation. Characterized by its strong intensity, and desire for those feelings to be reciprocated.
